Municipal Information

Implementation of the goals of the Sustainable Raritan RiverRegional Action Plan for the restoration and sustainable reuse of this natural resource relies on our municipal partners. We look forward to bringing resources to our partners to encourage strong and sustainable environments and economic growth. The website provides information related to municipal interest in watershed protection, helps find resources and identifies groups interested in partnering to achieve the protection and benefits from naturalresources today and in the future.

NJDEP defines sites according to the level of resourceimpacted by the contamination. To learn more about these terms, click here or read the text below:
The following is from the NJDEP website:

  • C1 remedial levels are associated with simple sites one or two contaminants localized to soil and the immediate spill or discharge area.
  • C2 remedial levels are associated with more complicated contaminant discharges, multiple site spillsand discharges, more than one contaminant, with both soil and GW impacted orthreatened.
  • C3 remedial levels are associated with high complexity and threatening sites. Multiple contaminants, some at high concentrations with unknown sources continuing to impact soils, GW and possibly surface waters andpotable water resources. Dangerous for direct contact with contaminated soils.
  • D- Same conditions as C3 except that D levels are also usually designated Federal "Superfund Sites."

 

Municipal Websites: Environmental and Economic Development Information A recent review of the 100 municipal websites in the Raritan River region shows information available to the public in six key categories. Information available varies and is current as of January 18, 2012. Municipalities in bold have passed a resolution of support for the Regional Plan.
